If the permissions for your Figma prototype and file are not set to Anyone with the link [can view], the prototype won’t be able to load, either when previewing it in Maze or when your testers go to test.
We use Figma's prototype embed feature when loading Figma prototypes so that your prototypes render exactly as they appear in Figma. This feature doesn’t formally support embedding prototypes linked to restricted files. For this reason, both your file and prototype must be publicly accessible to anyone with the link for the prototype embed feature to work properly.
If you try to import a Figma prototype without the required link settings, you will see one of the following errors:
Restricted Figma file: Make sure ‘Anyone with the link’ is selected in your sharing settings.
OR
The prototype is not available
The only exception to the information above is if Figma live embeds are enabled on your maze. Learn more about Figma live embeds
Solution
If you're seeing this error, make sure that the Figma file and prototype are correctly shared:
- File sharing settings: Open your Figma file, click Share, and select Anyone with a link.
- Prototype sharing settings: Open the Presentation view in your Figma file, and repeat the steps to select Anyone with the link [can view].
