When running a study and hiring participants, you can use filtering conditions to fit your specific audience needs.
In this article:
Standard criteria
The study will only be shown to participants that match the conditions set for the following filtering criteria/screeners.
- Location - Countries, regions, cities, or states
- Job Function - Professional roles (marketing, engineering, etc.)
- Seniority - Experience level (entry-level to executive)
- Age Group - Demographic ranges (18-24, 25-34, etc.)
Flexible filters
The study will be shown to all participants who meet the standard criteria but will also appear to participants who do not meet flexible filtering conditions.
Participants matching these filter selections will be prioritized. Others can apply to take your study, however, they will be labeled as Not qualified under Participant interviews here:
- Skills: Specific abilities or expertise areas a participant possesses. Select up to 25 skills at once (e.g., Python, Project Management, UX Design)
- Industries: Business sectors where participants have experience. Maximum of 5 industries allowed (e.g., Education, Aviation, Healthcare)
- Ethnicities: Racial or cultural groups participants identify with. Available as filter options (e.g., Asian, Black/African, Hispanic/Latino)
- Household Income: Annual combined earnings of all members in a participant's household. Optional income-based filtering (e.g., $50,000-$75,000, $75,000-$100,000)
- Job Titles: Professional positions or roles participants currently hold or have held. Limited to 10 job titles per selection (e.g., Product Manager, Software Engineer, Marketing Director)
Exclude past participants
Note: Past participant filtering is only available for orders created after February 12, 2025. Using this option, you may still see participants from previous studies if they participated in a study prior to this date.
To avoid collecting feedback and insights from the same participants repeatedly, you can exclude anyone who has participated in a study within your organization in the past 6 months or all time.
