Can I switch between annual and monthly billing?

Last updated: September 14, 2026

When should I opt for annual vs. monthly billing?

A yearly commitment is a convenient option for reducing the frequency of payments and administrative hassle. It's less ideal if you anticipate discontinuing Maze within the year, or if you need to add seats temporarily.

Monthly billing is a good fit if you're evaluating Maze for a single project, testing the platform, or managing a team size that changes often.

Please note that we aren't able to switch an annual subscription to monthly partway through your term. As outlined in our Terms of Service, we don't offer refunds for unused service or other charges, and annual subscriptions can't be canceled or downgraded before the commitment ends. If you'd like to move to monthly billing, you can request the change to take effect at your renewal date — see below.

Which plans can change billing frequency

Billing frequency changes are available on our current Starter plan.

If your team is on one of our legacy plans — plans we no longer sell — we aren't able to change your subscription cadence. If you need more flexibility in how your account is billed, our Enterprise plan may be a better fit, and we'd be happy to connect you with our Sales team.

Not sure which plan you're on? Contact our Support team and we can confirm for you.

How to change your billing frequency

Only the team owner can request a change in ‌the billing frequency.

Please note that we don’t offer refunds for unused service or other charges, as discussed in our Terms of Service. If you have questions about our refund policy or the annual billing commitment, please reach out before upgrading.
