When setting up recruitment settings for an interview study, you can use various features to help select participants you’d like to invite.
Review method
There are two ways to review and invite participants: Auto-invite and Handpick.
Auto-invite
Invitations are sent automatically to eligible participants.
- With screener questions: Participants who qualify through the screener questions are automatically invited. Those who are screened out can still be invited manually, if needed.
- Without screener questions: All participants who fill out the recruitment link can schedule an interview.
This method is ideal if you want to streamline the review process and minimize manual effort.
Handpick
Participants who apply through the recruitment link must be manually reviewed and invited. Regardless of how screener questions are answered, you retain the ability to invite qualified and unqualified participants as you see fit. This option gives you complete control over who joins your study.
Screener
The screener helps you qualify or screen out participants to ensure you’re spending time with those who best represent your target audience’s characteristics, interests, behaviors, and knowledge.
Adding screening questions is optional when recruiting your own participants.
A minimum of 2 screener questions is required if you’re hiring participants from the moderated panel.

Handpick participants who do not qualify based on screeners
Participants who apply through the recruitment link but don't qualify based on flexible filters will be automatically labeled as not qualified under the Participant interviews section, allowing you to easily identify and focus on suitable candidates to invite to your study.
