This guide explains how to configure device settings for Maze studies, with a special focus on our new mobile app capabilities. Understanding these settings is crucial for researchers to ensure participants can properly access and complete studies on their intended devices.
Important: Device settings cannot be edited once a study is live. Make sure to configure these settings correctly during test creation.

Study requirement settings
Device settings determine which devices (desktop, tablet, mobile, or all) participants can use to complete your Maze study.
These settings can be found by clicking on the Study requirements in the left sidebar after creating your study:
Clips
Select the type of data you would like to collect in this study:
- Screen recording
- Camera
- Microphone
Toggling Clips required on will make the above options mandatory for participants to give permission to complete the study.
Devices
Select the devices you'd like participants to use to complete the study:
- Desktop
- Tablet
- Mobile
Selecting a specific device lets participants take the study on that device only, but selecting all devices allows participation from any device. The mobile option includes both mobile web and mobile app.
