Customers who create an interview study can now generate a study-level conferencing link to share externally when recruiting participants outside of Maze. This is a useful feature that will allow you as the researcher to use Maze for the interview, analysis and reporting even if you are doing your recruitment/scheduling elsewhere.
Who can use this feature?
Interview Studies are available on the Enterprise plan.
Before you start
Please note, study conferencing rooms do not have observer links by default before a participant has joined the interview. If observers are needed, researchers will have to share the direct observer link only after the participant has joined the interview.
How to generate a study conferencing room link
To enable the conferencing room for your study, navigate to the recruit tab within your interview study. Click Open study settings within the Conferencing room section, or open the study setting directly in the top right corner.
Toggle the Enable conferencing room for this study setting on. You'll then notice a few additional settings you can adjust, including:
- A dedicated public conferencing room name (visible to participants),
- The option to automatically record interviews
- The ability to allow observers to join interviews
Once you're satisfied with your conferencing room settings, click 'Copy link' and share your conferencing room link externally. After enabling the conferencing room, a Copy link button will remain visible and easy to access from the Recruit tab in the Conferencing room section.
How do I join the conferencing room as the researcher?
To join the conferencing room as the researcher or host, open the conferencing room link. Once accessed, your screen will read Waiting for participants. As participants begin to join the conferencing room, you'll be informed on that same screen.
It is possible to run multiple simultaneous interviews in a study's conferencing room, but participants are not able to join the same interview.
How do my participants access the conferencing room from the shared link?
Once your participants access the shared conferencing link, they will be prompted to select their role, enter their details, grant any necessary permissions (ie: microphone, camera) and click Join. They will then join the waiting the room until the interview session has begun with a note "Waiting for the host to start the meeting.".
How do I view my interview after it's completed?
If the record interviews option was enabled in settings or you started the recording during the interview, you'll be able to review your interviews in the study's sessions tab once they complete processing.
