Such edits may impact how your testers interpret your questions/tasks, affecting your results. This is particularly sensitive when changing a maze where testers have already started responding.
To protect the integrity of your data, not all fields in a block can be edited directly.
Overview
The following are the actions you can take when editing a live maze.
Edit allowed
It's possible to edit the block directly.
Breaking change
Breaking changes (i.e. changes that are significant enough that it would be challenging to reconcile data collected before and after the edit) are disabled by default.
The only way to make those changes is by creating a new version of the block (i.e. duplicate and hide it).
This way, data collected before the change is presented in the original block, and data collected after the change is presented in the new block.
Though some changes can be made directly without duplicating the block, please be aware that changes that significantly affect testers’ interpretation and answers (such as completely changing questions/instructions, editing the order of blocks, or changing the conditional logic) can profoundly affect the results you collect.
If a change is substantial enough, you may wish to still duplicate the block and hide the original, even if not technically a breaking change. This way, you’d be able to clearly separate data collected before and after the change.
Please note, if you have an active panel order, it's not possible to make changes and continue collecting responses. If you need to make any edits to your maze, you'll need to stop the active panel order or duplicate your maze and place a new order.
