Who can use this feature?
- Maze Prompts are available for all plans. However, the Amplitude integration is only available in the Organization plan.
- To connect Maze to Amplitude, you’ll need an admin or manager role in Amplitude.
Do you support integrations with other tools?
At the moment, it’s only possible to target your prompts to specific users through the Amplitude integration.
If you’d be interested in an integration with a different tool (e.g. Salesforce, Contentsquare), please share your feedback with our team!
Connect Maze to Amplitude for the first time
- Confirm that you’ve selected the relevant team.
- Open your team settings and navigate to the Integrations tab.
- Under ‘Amplitude’, click Connect to start the setup.
- In the instructions modal, you’ll see an API key. You’ll need to copy and paste it in Amplitude in the next steps.
-
Enter the Maze API key in Amplitude: Please refer to the Amplitude documentation to learn how to add a new data destination. Back in Maze, click Continue to see instructions for the next step.
-
Sync a cohort in Amplitude: Please refer to the Amplitude documentation to learn how to sync a cohort to a destination.
- Click Test connection.
If you’re seeing an error when testing your connection, please refer to this section: Why do I see a “Couldn’t find a cohort” error when connecting Maze to Amplitude?
Show prompts to a specific Amplitude cohort
To share an in-product prompt with specific Amplitude cohorts:
- Create a maze and send it live.
- Follow the steps to create a prompt.
- The Amplitude integration will be available on the Audience step, when you select to display the prompt to Specific users.
- If you haven’t connected your Amplitude account yet, you’ll be asked to do so.
- Select the Amplitude cohort from the Select cohort dropdown.
Refresh the list of cohorts
Maze doesn’t have visibility into changes you make to your Amplitude cohorts after syncing. If you’ve added a new cohort, you’ll need to refresh the list of cohorts in Maze.
You can easily refresh the list of cohorts by clicking the Refresh () button when creating a prompt.
Disconnect the Amplitude integration
Disconnecting the Amplitude integration permanently deletes all cohort data stored in Maze. Any prompts that use Amplitude cohorts as their audience will be stopped.
To disconnect the Amplitude integration from Maze:
- Log into your Maze account and switch to the relevant team.
- Open your team settings and navigate to the Integrations tab.
- Under ‘Amplitude’, click Disconnect.
Troubleshooting
Why do I see a “Couldn’t find a cohort” error when connecting Maze to Amplitude?
If the connection to Amplitude is unsuccessful or no cohorts can be found, you’ll see the following error:
Couldn’t find a cohort
Check you’re using the API key we provided and you have a cohort in Amplitude.
If you’re seeing this error:
- Confirm that you’ve set up the integration: Follow the steps outlined in Connect Maze to Amplitude for the first time to add the right Maze API key in Amplitude.
- Make sure you’ve defined cohorts in Amplitude: This error can also appear if the integration is set up correctly, but no cohorts have been found. To address this issue, make sure you’ve defined cohorts in Amplitude. Learn more about cohorts in Amplitude
If the issue persists, please let our Support team know.
Why do I see an “Audience error” in my prompt?
Removing the Amplitude integration will stop any prompts that have been set up using specific Amplitude cohorts as the audience.
In such cases, the side panel will show the following error:
Audience error
There is an error within your audience settings. Edit your prompt audience settings to enable this prompt
If you’re seeing this error:
- Set up the Amplitude integration again: To continue showing the prompt only to those cohorts, you’ll need to set up your Amplitude integration again.
- Change the prompt’s audience settings: You can also continue to use the prompt without the Amplitude integration. To do so, edit the audience settings of your prompt to display it to All users.
