Why does Maze offer different plans and pricing to some users?
Like many software companies, Maze sometimes releases revised pricing as an experiment to help ensure that we’re pricing Maze in a way that’s mutually beneficial to our customers and to Maze itself.
In those cases, we may temporarily update our prices for new sign-ups while the experiment is active, without retroactively applying the experimental pricing to existing customers. This minimizes uncertainty and risk for existing customers.
We move existing paid customers to the updated plans and pricing only after we’ve concluded our experiments successfully and are confident plans and pricing will be stable for as long as is reasonably possible.
Can I opt in to experimental plans and pricing?
Generally, it isn’t possible to opt into experimental plans and pricing. We don’t want to skew the outcome of the experiment, and want to minimize the number of times customers may experience a change to their plans and pricing.
When we decide to update plans and pricing for existing customers, we’ll provide notice in advance.
What kinds of differences are there in experimental plans and pricing?
Maze strives to be transparent about the pricing experiments we perform.

Examples of things we’ve experimented with include:
- The minimum number of seats required for purchasing our Team/Professional plan
- Moving customers to team-oriented plans and eliminating the single-user Starter plan
- Reducing the number of blocks allowed for Free from 10 blocks to 7 blocks
- Eliminating roles and permissions for users invited into Free teams
