Using Cursor in a website test

Last updated: July 16, 2026

Cursor is a powerful AI-driven code editor, but it doesn't provide a built-in way to share a live development link. To make your project accessible for Maze Live Website Testing, you'll need to export your code from Cursor and deploy it to a hosting platform that generates a public URL. Maze can then use that public URL to run usability tests directly on your live site.

Maze lets you test your AI-generated sites with or without the snippet installed. If you want to iterate quickly, you can launch a test without it and still gain valuable insights through recordings. Installing the snippet only takes one extra step and enables quantitative data collection for deeper insights—choose the option that best fits your workflow. See here how to test without snippet.

Workflow

1. Develop with Cursor

  • Build and test your project locally using Cursor's AI capabilities.

  • Ensure installing the Maze snippet is part of this development process.

  • Once ready, export the deployable assets (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or framework build output like Next.js).

2. Deploy to a hosting platform

Use a hosting service to make your project live on the web. Examples:

  • Vercel → Great for frameworks like Next.js; offers instant deployments and public URLs.

  • Netlify → Ideal for static sites and serverless functions.

  • Firebase or DigitalOcean → Alternatives for backend services or traditional hosting.

3. Obtain a public URL

  • After deployment, the hosting platform will generate a shareable public link.

  • This link is what you'll provide to Maze for testing.

4. Run tests in Maze

  • In Maze, choose the Website Test block.

  • Paste the public URL from your hosting platform and click Set up.

  • Maze will run usability tests directly on your live site, allowing participants to interact with it as if it were in production.

Benefits

  • Realistic testing: Participants experience the website as it actually behaves, not a static mockup.

  • Quick iteration: Use Cursor + Vercel/Netlify to redeploy updates rapidly and test new iterations.

  • Seamless integration: Maze works with any live, publicly accessible URL, making the deployment-to-test loop fast and efficient.
