Which AI models/providers does Maze use?
Maze doesn’t build or train its own AI models.
The Maze AI features fall under two separate categories, powered by the respective providers:
-
Features that use OpenAI’s GPT large language model (LLM) for intelligent data processing
This includes features such as Open Questions with follow-ups, Themes, and AI suggestions. -
Features powered by Rev AI's automatic speech recognition (ASR) for voice-to-text transcriptions
This includes Interview Studies.
How's participant data used?
OpenAI and Rev.ai don’t use Maze customers' data submitted via the API (such as your results, clips recordings, or other types of data) to train their models or improve their services.
Data retention
Any data sent through both the OpenAI and Rev.ai APIs is retained for a maximum of 30 days and then permanently deleted.

Can I disable AI features for my team?
The usage of AI features in Maze is optional.
If you are subscribed to the Organization plan and want to disable the AI features for your team, you have the option to turn them off.
Disabling these features means that your team will no longer be able to use the Maze AI features.
To disable the AI features, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM). They'll guide you through the process. You can always contact your CSM later if you need to reinstate your team's access to Maze AI features.
In your message, please specify the feature group from which you want to opt out:
A) Features that use OpenAI's GPT model for intelligent data processing
By opting out, your team will no longer have access to the following AI-powered features:
- AI follow-ups in the Open Question block
- Sentiment analysis
- Conversation summary
- AI question optimizations
- Maze name suggestions
- Themes
B) Features that use Rev.ai’s ASR model for speech-to-text transcription
By opting out, your team will no longer have access to Interview Studies.
